At first this 20 hour documentary was thrilling, thanks to the incredible footage of the war and wonderful BBC narrator with his classic British accent, but as it went on it really dragged, mainly because it focused too much on western front infantry experiences (for like 10 hours) and not enough on strategy, tactics, or politics.
Loved it as a kid, thought it was dumb in my 20s, now I’ve come back around on this classic sci-fi emo thriller, not only did it inspire a whole raft of culture in its wake, it’s honestly pretty inspiring and touching.
