The perfect, grimy attention to detail in these late 60s / early 70s time capsules like Shampoo is so much more engaging and rewarding than whatever today's glossy meme-ified and boardroom designed hits are trying to do. 

the china syndrome (1979)

I'd heard that this jane fonda thriller was anti-nuclear propaganda, but after watching it I'm here to say that it's not - it's anti-greed, anti-human corruption, a fascinating time capsure, a riveting account of what it's like to get on the wrong side of a powerful corporation, but more than anything, it's a great film. 


whiplash (2014)

you want to get mad, "no, this ain't realistic no way," but after all is said and done you must admit that not only was it realistic and well plotted, but the music was great and just kidding Simmons was in top form.
